Fracassetti Butcher Shop ---

The history of Macelleria Fracassetti is long and spans generations. Together with the Urban Commerce District, we met Marco, the current owner of the business, to learn more about its story. Luigi Fracassetti from Mornico al Serio was trading eggs and chickens when he met Adele in Bergamo – on via Guglielmo d'Alzano – who had a fruit and vegetable shop. He fell in love with her, but to marry her he had to fulfill a very clear request: "Either you buy me a shop or I won't marry you!". And so in 1952, for 280 thousand lire, he bought a small shop in the heart of Città Alta and turned it into a poultry and butcher shop. Shortly after, seven others opened in the neighborhood. Of these, today only Marco Fracassetti's butcher shop remains, one of the four children of Luigi and Adele.
