The Roman Cisterns ---

The discovery of remains of some water cisterns demonstrates that Bergomum had a very well-organized water supply system. Within the Rocca complex it is still possible today to see the remains of a Roman cistern, the only one open to visitors. In the complex of the Sant'Agata monastery, six cisterns are preserved still full of water, but it is not possible to visit them due to the cloistered nature of the monastery. Other cistern remains, not currently visitable, have been identified at various points in Città Alta, including the remains of a cistern recently discovered near Palazzo Moroni.
