The Roman Forum ---

At the base of the Campanone you can admire the remains of the Roman forum: between the 1st and 2nd centuries A.D., the forum was the center of the city, the heart of public life. Public and religious ceremonies took place here, assemblies gathered, justice was administered and commercial activities were conducted. Little is known about Bergamo's forum: the remains of some shops and a street are visible. Here you can also admire remains of the proto-urban center of the Golaseccian Celts, the first inhabitants of the hill, between the 10th and 9th centuries B.C.
