Bergamo Cathedral, officially the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sant'Alessandro, is one of the most fascinating monuments of the Città Alta. Located in the heart of Bergamo's historic center, this architectural masterpiece represents centuries of history, art and faith.
Construction of the cathedral began in the 16th century, although the original church dates back to much earlier periods. The main façade, made of white and black marble, is an outstanding example of Lombard Renaissance style, characterized by elegant arcades and geometric decorations that capture light suggestively during the day.
Inside, the Cathedral houses artistic treasures of inestimable value. The naves are embellished with works by great masters, splendid frescoes and a solemn atmosphere
