Those who stop at Ubiale, a small cluster of houses at the beginning of Valle Brembana, have the distinct impression of taking a dive into the Middle Ages. The elegant bridge stands out, which Count Attone had built over a thousand years ago above the Imagna river, at the point where it flows into the waters of the Brembo river. To Attone, the last count of Lecco and Almeno, is attributed not only the design of the bridge, but also the construction of the Clanezzo castle and a fortification on Monte Ubione, which controlled access to the Imagna valley. Of the castle, some significant parts survive today, including a tower.
