Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Campi ---

The Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Campi is located in the countryside around Stezzano, 5 kilometers from Bergamo. According to tradition, there was a chapel with an image of the Madonna, to whom the farmers were deeply devoted. Eight centuries ago, one day a woman saw a great light there and the Madonna appeared to her with the Child. A small church was built where in May 1586 water began to flow from a pillar with a frescoed image of the Madonna; on July 12 of that same year the Madonna appeared to two girls from Stezzano.
