Rifugio Benigni ---
On the border between Val Brembana and Val Gerola, Rifugio Benigni is positioned on a rocky plateau at 2222m next to Lago Piazzotti. Surrounded by rocks, meadows, and pools of water, it offers a magnificent view of the high peaks of the Masino-Bregaglia massif and the valley, always evocative. Two giants can be admired from the refuge: Disgrazia and Badile stand out from Valtellina. You can reach Benigni starting from Cusio, along path 108 or commonly called "Sciòcc" in a couple of hours. Another option is to depart from Ornica and climb up the Valle di Salmurano in about 4 hours along path 107. A stop on path 101 of the Orobie Occidentali, it is the ideal destination for excursions of various types: a simple day trip and climb to Cima di Valpianella, or the thrill of an overnight stay at high altitude.
