Upper Powder Magazine of S. Marco ---

Built at the end of the 1500s like the one in the Colle Aperto valley, in sandstone, formed by the overlapping of a pyramid on a barrel-vaulted parallelepiped. Two meters thick and 7 meters high, its top was covered in lead to guarantee waterproofing, necessary for the proper preservation of gunpowder. The walls and powder magazines are the only Venetian military structures that remain intact to this day.
