Piazza Mercato del Fieno ---
This spacious square, which extends north to the former Convent of S. Francesco, assumed its current dimensions at the end of the 19th century, as part of urban renewal efforts to improve the city's deteriorating conditions. A second and more intense phase of urban renewal took place between the 1930s and 1960s, with demolitions, the opening of small squares and restoration work. Notable are the two medieval houses, called case-torri, tall and narrow, that overlook the square.
