
The Thermal Spa Center of Trescore Balneario ---
The origins of the well-known thermal spa center of Trescore Balneario, located in Val Cavallina, an important connection between Bergamo and Lake Iseo, are certainly ancient. It was probably the Romans who discovered and took advantage of the therapeutic properties of the sulfurous waters that flowed in the heart of the valley. The virtues of these springs continued to be utilized even after the fall of Rome: one of the most illustrious visitors was Bartolomeo Colleoni, the celebrated condottiero, who had the thermal baths rebuilt in the medieval monastery that had risen along the ancient Roman road that connected the Padana plain to the lake and the Valle Camonica. In the nineteenth century it benefited from an ever-increasing number of guests, also thanks to the fame that derived from the presence of some notable figures such as Giuseppe Gari
