Fountain of S. Agata ---

The Fountain of Sant'Agata is a clear example of the medieval urban placement reserved for fountains: they were aligned with buildings along the streets and inserted within a stone arch. Behind each fountain was positioned a reservoir, with a door for inspections and cleaning. This fountain, built in the 13th century, was fed by the Magistrale aqueduct, which collected waters from the aqueducts of the Vasi and Sudorno. During restoration work in 2009, remains of a mosaic belonging to a Roman house from the first century A.D. came to light.
