Fountain of Porta Dipinta ---
At this point stood the eastern gate of the city's medieval walls. This gate, demolished in the first quarter of the 19th century, had taken on the name of Porta Picta by the late fifteenth century, a name still preserved in the current street name. This designation was given to the structure because between the 15th and 16th centuries it was decorated with frescoed paintings, entrusted to Bergamasque artists such as Simone da Averara and Bartolomeo Cabrini. The fountain was built symmetrically to the large vaulted covering of the gate.
