Ex-Monastery of Sant'Agostino ---
The monastery and its adjoining former church have never changed their purpose: they have always been dedicated to culture. The complex, founded around 1290 by the Eremitani fathers and passed in 1407 to the Regular Observants (both belonging to the monastic order of St. Augustine), soon became the seat of an important center of religious and cultural studies. In 1647 it began to host the Academy of the Eccitati and in 1670 schools of philosophy and theology opened there. Today, the tradition continues, the monastery is one of the headquarters of the University of Bergamo and the former Church has recently been converted into an Aula Magna. The restoration work has brought new life to this ancient jewel of Città alta: from outside, you will be able to admire the façade in Gothic style, gabled and in sandstone, and the entrance portal
