
Church of San Lorenzo ---
The Church of San Lorenzo is located in Ghisalba, a town in the Bergamo plain 18 km from Bergamo, situated along the banks of the Serio river. The church is a small jewel that, in appearance, closely resembles the famous Pantheon in Rome. It was designed by architect Luigi Cagnola, the same architect who built the Arch of Peace in Milan. The building is in pure neoclassical style; completed and inaugurated in 1834. The current temple stands on the area once occupied by a church erected towards the end of the 5th century on the ruins of a pagan temple dedicated to Jupiter. The entrance to the temple is preceded by a portico with 14 columns.
