Immersed in the green landscape of the ancient Lemine countryside, the church of San Giorgio at Almenno San Salvatore takes visitors on a journey through time, between art and spirituality. Isolated at the intersection of ancient rural roads, its majestic Romanesque architecture stands out from afar: three harmonious naves and a powerful presbytery merge into an ensemble of pure lines and sharp volumes. The apse, with its plastic forms inspired by Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo, tells of the great constructive mastery of the 12th century. The sandstone facing with large blocks, in particular, displays the lithic technique of the first phase of S. Maria Maggiore, the Romanesque phase of the cathedral of S.
