SILVESTRI CASTLE ---

The characteristic village of Calcio, situated in the plain a few kilometers southeast of Bergamo, boasts a beautiful castle with a richly frescoed internal courtyard. Built on the ruins of a Roman villa from the 2nd century A.D., the castle features a splendid mosaic floor, discovered in 1870 in its cellars. It is so harmonious that it is considered the finest example of Roman art in the entire Bergamo province, and is now visible at the Archaeological Museum of Bergamo.
