Basilica Santa Maria Assunta ---
The Basilica dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and San Giovanni Battista is the main place of worship in Clusone and was built between 1688 and 1698 according to designs by Giovan Battista Quadrio, architect of the Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano. It was solemnly consecrated in 1711 and in 1961 was granted the title of Minor Basilica by Pope John XXIII. Upon entering the Basilica, one stands before a treasure chest of rare beauty and harmonious composition of different styles, in which every decorative element fits perfectly within the overall baroque style: marble altars, gilded stuccos, sumptuous sacred vestments and canvases by the most important artists of the Lombard-Venetian tradition. Of renowned beauty are the statues placed at the sides of the altar panels, the majestic Main Altar
