
Baluardo and Prato della Fara ---
The Baluardo and Prato della Fara are located next to the Baluardo di S. Agostino, near Porta S. Agostino, at the eastern end of the walls of Città Alta. The baluardo is part of the fortifications built in the 16th century by the Republic of Venice to defend Bergamo, today a UNESCO site, and together with the Fara curtain wall protected the area between the Baluardo di S. Agostino and that of S. Lorenzo. Today it is a scenic and much-loved part of the walks along the walls, thanks to the tranquility of the area and the presence of various relaxation areas. Further inside, right in front of the former church of S. Agostino, the Prato della Fara extends, for a long time an inaccessible area. Here, in fact, what the people of Bergamo called fupù' once opened up, a large hole that was later filled in
